Our Third General Order Part 3
Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek you first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”
In a previous post we discussed the general principle of “seek first”. This idea can and should be of great importance, but we always need to make sure we are seeking the right thing first. In this text Jesus says to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Thus giving us a pretty clear picture of the direction of His desire.
As I pondered over this passage, I kept thinking, what did Jesus’ audience think when He talked about His Kingdom. Where did they think it was, what did they think it looked like and how would they know when they found it. In many ways, we are still like the original audience of Jesus. However, we have the valuable tool of the written Word to guide us through this subject.
The Kingdom of God is referred to over 68 times, all in the new testament … this is a phrase is used as a parable, as a direction and in correction. Next week I will break down one of the Kingdom parables, but for today, I want you to spend your Pit Time, describing your view of the kingdom of God.
